Dont listen to the previous reviewer, the app works perfecly on iPhone 6 and iOS 9. Anyways, it is a very comprehensive dictionary in its own right. Contains an exhaustive collection of rare, obscure, uncommon, technical and sometimes funny words. Additionally, it is by far the most enjoyable dictionary to view. For some reason, this seems to make the whole experience of using this dictionary more pleasant.

I have been using Advanced English Dictionary for years. It is the best there is, in my opinion. This dictionary has every word imaginable and I particularly like the etymology of the words.

Ive been using this app for a few years across a number of different iOS. It works great. They have consistently improved the app and updated for each iOS. Cant hardly spell to save my life. Couldnt live without this app.

I love this app. I purchased it in 2008 or so for my iPod Touch, and kept it as an active app when I graduated to the smart phone world with an iPhone 5 (2012?), and now iPhone 6 (2015). Its been my hands-down preference over the other dictionary/thesaurus apps Ive tried. Its easy to use (brilliantly simplistic and organized), consistently reliable (only one or two updates since that 2008 timeframe do I recall it ever crashing, which was quickly fixed), and each new version seems to make it increasingly entertaining! For example, one version added idioms, which I believe are an important part of our vernacular, and with their addition I can check to be sure Im using them in the generally accepted context (my mother was from a very small [and for the record, well-educated] town ... so many of the ones I grew up with are unique to that locale, and consequently confusing to very multicultural metropolitan D.C. where I live). If I had to come up with feedback for improvement, it would be to add even more synonyms to accompany definitions and to add a blurb on the words origins. I miss my bound version of Rogets Thesaurus (two major sections--the latter being a straight-up thesaurus, the former organizing words by major category and sub-category--great for when you want to find that perfect descriptive word thats on the tip of the tongue). I have the Rogets Thesaurus app, but still prefer the bound book for ease of use (but a bit too heavy to lug around ;) ) Origin of words is fascinating to me and helps me to remember the words exact definition. Adding either of these would probably complicate the best aspects of this app though--its straight-forward simplicity, ease of use and reliability. In short, I think anyone who purchases this dictionary app will be very pleased with their money spent.

AED is first a great dictionary. It is simple, straightforward, and uncluttered. Where its value really shines is the listing of related words. I often cant think if the word Im looking for; in that situation, I always turn turn to AED. Its a great dictionary, thesaurus, and word-discovery app.

Many times this app contains word definitions not contained in Dictionary.com

Ive had this app for several years now. I cant compare to any other dictionary apps because I never needed to try another one. This app is useful to me on a daily basis and it never lets me down. I especially like the phonetic spellings and alphabet included with the definitions. I highly recommend to anyone wanting (and willing) to expand their vocabulary.

Has every word ever looked up.

With this practical and beautiful app you can learn definition of any worda. It defines words in a very simple way. It also provides synonym, antonym and root. Youll find it superb.

I use this app everyday. I got tired of assuming the definition of words based on the context its written in, and now I can find the exact definition, instantly. I love that it keeps a history of words youve looked up and that its completely accessible offline. I wish it had a thesaurus, but it does suggest words that have a similar definition to the word you searched for. Special thanks to the developers for steadily releasing updates since I first bought this app in 2008!
